THE IMPORTANCE OF STORYTELLING

We walk through life gathering and creating stories. It's been a mode of communication for humans throughout history, residing within every fiber of our being.

But how often are the stories True, and what is the definition of truth?

Storytelling could be described as an Art Form. Does art have to be truthful? What is truthful art? Is it the accurate representation of a landscape, the human form, or a bowl of fruit?

Or is it the truthful emotions portrayed through pain and anguish, much like Frida Kahlo's work?

The Two Fridas, 1939 by Frida Kahlo

We are all truth-tellers within our lived experiences, which are entwined with others' experiences. This is where the marriage of truth and trust diverges.

Similar to history, we will never truly know the meaning of the paintings on the cave walls. All we can do is try our best to interpret them in a semi-accurate way.

Perhaps this is the same with ourselves and others.

If we give ourselves the grace to realise that there is misinformation about our own stories and others, we can find and agree on a collective truth that can benefit all.
